Who's gone to check out Deano's Pizza outside the South Gates of LSU on Highland where Calendar's used to be? (And the short lived TK Pizza.)

I thought it was pretty good.. nice thick layer of toppings.. the lighting could use some toning down.. I thought I was about to get interrogated.

I've been to Deano's in Baton Rouge twice. I think it is the best pizza in town. For years I've eaten at the Deano's in Lafayette, and hoped they would open one in Baton Rouge. Finally...

Their pizza is made with high quality ingredients. The pizza is cooked directly in brick ovens, not on pizza pans. The result is a very crispy crust, that can have some black residue on the bottom. The sauce is very tasty, and the toppings are all outstanding!

If I sound like an employee, I'm not. Just a very big fan of good pizza, and Deano's is as good as you'll find.

My only complaint is that you need sunglasses there. The lights are extremely bright for a restaurant.

As we do a background check to see if you are indeed not an employee I would have to agree regarding the lighting.

The lighting is quite harsh. Lots of shadows being cast because of the spot lighting.

I prefer indirect lighting myself.

As for the crispy crust 2 of the three times I've been the crust has been closer to the burnt side than the crispy side than I would have liked.
