I forgot to add into my last message, but we live on an organic farm here in Houston where we will be moving from and I would love to live the same way in Baton Rouge is there any organic living in Baton Rouge. Are there any farmers markets, organic food co ops, or organic farms in the area?
No, silly I mean enviornmentally friendly. All though the green party is very enviornmentally contious. I don't find that they tend to be my kind of people. If there is such a thing as a liberal conservative. That would be me! I also wanted to thank you so much for being such a pal yesterday. It means alot to me. I hope that we move to BR so that I can meet you! I like the changes tot he chat. Really COOL!
There are several organic co-ops outside of Baton Rouge that sell their produce at the farmer's market (downtown on the weekends) and at the various produce markets around town.
There is also an organic produce seller that delivers veggies to your home for a small annual fee (I only reccomend this if you have a big family, it averages out to over 400lbs of seasonal veggies each year)
If you're interested, I can give you the contact information for these co-ops.
The Red Stick Farmer's Market is open every Saturday morning I think. Click the link for a Google map of the location. It is actually held inside a parking garage so the weather doesn't affect it. I have been there once and they have the usual fruits and vegetables and also such things as homemade hot sauce and BBQ sauce, pies and cakes and other homemade foods. As for it all being organic I can't say for sure but I do know that some of the farmers do advertise that their produce is grown on organic farms.
That sounds great, my husband and I are comming to town on Tuesday so I wont get to see it, but hopfully he will get the job at wholefoods. Then we will be there all the time. I was really afraid that there wouldn't be much of green living in BR, but it sounds like there is. I run an organic buisness and would hate to loose alot of money from moving. Thanks you have been so helpful!
