On March 19, 2003 we began to hear reports of American bombs dropping on the Iraqi city of Baghdad. Missiles began to light up the sky slightly before President George W. Bush announced the “opening stages of what will be a broad and concerted campaign.”

“On my orders, coalition forces have begun striking selected targets of military importance to undermine Saddam Hussein’s ability to wage war,” Bush said.
