When Dora Figueiredo, a graduate of Rutgers University in New Jersey, found out that her GRE scores were too low for acceptance into the University’s graduate school of education, she was crushed.

“[The Dean] said, ‘There’s low, but then there’s too low, and that’s what yours are.’”

But as it turned out, she said, it was a “blessing in disguise.”
